For almost two decades, the Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) has been supporting businesswomen at different stages of their business careers. Through a holistic sustainable approach, SBWC offers expertise and guidance covering all aspects of a business venture.

Set up in 2002 under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of Nama Women Advancement Establishment, SBWC has now over 2,000 members from different fields, from the UAE and across the world, including Britain, Brazil and Kuwait. It has been empowering potential and existing female entrepreneurs and businesswomen to establish and realize their ambitions in both traditional and non-traditional sectors in the UAE.

From technical assistance in setting up businesses, to training and mentorship, exposure to opportunities and help in forging partnerships with private organizations within the UAE and beyond, SBWC is the all-comprehensive one-stop business-hub for anyone and everyone seeking answers. SBWC excels as a reference point for successful sustainable projects.

In its third year, TiE Women is a global initiative dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs across the globe to come forward and speak of their entrepreneurial journey, share their innovative business ideas and be a part of the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Overall, this year’s MENA’s regional competitions hosted by TiE Dubai, saw over 200+ applications from women-led businesses from 15 countries across five regions (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Levant and Rest of the MENA). The 42 finalists were shortlisted from 10 countries, 20 cities and 13 different industries across all five regional finals.

The regional initiative will culminate into a TiE Women MENA Finals with participation from 5 finalists across the MENA region for a chance to win $35,000/💵💵💵- and other valuable prizes, including 1:1 support from mentors and connect with investors.

All five MENA finalists that include Bright Sign (Hadeel Ayoub), The Baby Garage (Farah Ahmed Faraq), Clever Play (Latifa Al-Khalifa), Ruuq (Alizar Tawil) and ImInclusive – (Hafsa Qadeer) will get the opportunity for investor meetings with e& Capital and Wamda; access to the Gitex Investor Lounge at North Star, legal consulting with Taylor Wessing, and subsidized business license setup at in5. The MENA finalists will also represent TiE Dubai and the MENA region in the global finals at TiE Global Summit scheduled in December in Hyderabad, India, where they will compete for the $100,000 equity-free prize money.

The vision and goal of TiE Women is to ‘Embrace, Engage, Empower’ women entrepreneurs across the globe – irrespective of the size, origin, interests, standing and background of the enterprise. The TiE Women initiative is built on the Pillars of TiE Global: Learning, Mentoring, Access to Funding, Scalability, Safe Space and Community.

Built upon best practices from local chapters’ women-centric initiatives, TiE Women will specifically result in capacity building, increased networking, knowledge-sharing, and visibility, providing a ‘safe space’ for women entrepreneurs to learn without inhibitions and judgment.

Throughout the year, with a focus on giving back to the community, TiE Dubai fosters entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, education, funding, and incubation to assist the next generation of entrepreneurs.
